The method of sound production used to create the tracks on "the Blow-Up Button was originally conceived as a component in the Audible 3 performance - Light Metal. A variety of cymbals were placed together in different combinations on the surface of a large, paper cone speaker. Moving, ultra low frequency sine tones were then played thru the speaker which in turn rattled the cymbals in rhythms according to the frequency and amplitude of the wave.
Instant, industrial strength gamelan-like metal chattering!
